I remember watching Emile in the youth team. He was clearly way ahead of anyone else in the team and was sure to make it. It was great watching such a future talent at Belvoir Drive knowing he was a future star. Then one day we played Q.P.R away and they announced Heskey was to make his debut. People wondered who he was. i wandered to the bookies and asked for a price for him to score the first goal. The bookies had never heard of him and so they asked me where he played. I wanted to say defender, but bottled it and went for midfield. 16 to 1 was the guys response so I handed over 20 quid. It would have been nice to say he scored and it would have been a good story, but alas he didn't. He was pretty disapointing to be honest. Anyway, he soon found his way, became a regular and was a great player for us. In addition he dipped his hand in his pocket to save the club when we were in financial trouble. An all round good egg.
These were crappy shirts really. Just a mass of polyester with a real lack of quality. I know what they were trying to do when you look at the designs that were around at the time, but we ended up with a poor mans version. This one came from a very good souce who got it direct from a player within a club in the north west. The shirt does not have a size tag and is the size of a small country.
